SEASONAL POSITIONS

ACTORS

AST will hold general auditions for 2020 for Equity, non-Equity, and intern actors at our home in Arkansas, as well as in Chicago, Illinois.  We also accept video submissions

 

Rehearsals for the 2020 season will begin May 19th . Shows will continue in repertory until July 12th. For actors coming from away from the central Arkansas region, housing will be available. All acting positions are paid, and actors are eligible to join and earn points in the Equity Membership Candidate program.

AST is a professional Equity theatre operating on a Letter of Agreement to LORT-D. We will be casting actors of a variety of ages and ethnicities–all are encouraged to apply.

Chicago Auditions:

Equity Auditions

Date: Friday, November 15th

Time: 10am - 6pm

As majority of the company will be in As You Like It and Into the Woods this year, actors are asked to prepare one Shakespeare monologue and 32 bars of a musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided.

All appointments for the Friday Equity auditions are made through the Equity office. EMC and non-Equity actors may also be able to be seen that day as walk-ins. 

For the Saturday non-Equity auditions, e-mail your headshot and resume to casting@arkshakes.com to be considered for an appointment. 

Arkansas Auditions:

Equity General Auditions (with the Arkansas Repertory Theatre)

Date: Wednesday, November 6th & Friday November 8th (if needed)

Time: 10am - 6pm

Actors should prepare either two very brief monologues OR a brief monologue with a brief song. Any actor who wishes to be considered for a Shakespeare play should perform at least 1 Shakespeare monologue. An accompanist will be provided. Sheet music must be provided and should be in the appropriate key.

AEA Members should e-mail casting@arkshakes.com to make an appointment. Please note that we will fill all available slots on November 6th prior to opening up appointments on November 8th. Non-Equity actors may not make appointments for these auditions, however, they may come in person to the auditions and sign up to be seen on a waiting list, time permitting.

Non-Equity Auditions

Date: Sunday, December 15th

Time: 1pm - 7pm

Location: Reynolds Performance Hall

As majority of the company will be in As You Like It and Into the Woods this year, actors are asked to prepare one Shakespeare monologue and 32 bars of a musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided. You must also provide sheet music for the accompanist in the appropriate key. Please aim for a total audition time of no more than 3 minutes.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

AST will accept video submissions from actors through December 16th, 2019. Please upload your video through a program such as You Tube or Vimeo and e-mail a link to your submission to casting@arkshakes.com, along with your headshot and resume. 

 

As majority of the company will be in As You Like It and Into the Woods this year, actors are asked to prepare one Shakespeare monologue and 32 bars of a musical theatre piece. Your song should be presented with some kind of accompaniment, either a track or live.


**Please note: the above auditions are for adult (18 and over) actors only. More information on youth auditions will be forthcoming.

TECHNICIANS  

Each season AST hires a range of technical positions, including Technical Director, Props Master, Master Electrician, etc., as well as interns to work in each technical area.
