Robert Ramirez to direct as part of AST's 11th season

This summer will see a new artist taking the helm of an Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre's production alongside Producing Artistic Director Rebekah Scallet. Robert Ramirez, head of the acting program for the University of Texas at Austin, will make his AST debut directing Julius Caesar, while Scallet will direct Love's Labour's Lost.

Robert is currently working on his upcoming production of The Comedy of Errors for Austin Shakespeare in Austin, Texas, where he resides and is the head of the acting program in the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas. He has performed with the New York, Utah, Great River, Illinois, Alabama, Baltimore and Wisconsin Shakespeare Festivals as well as numerous theatres in New York City. He has served as Voice and Text Coach on a number of productions for American Players Theatre, Austin Shakespeare, The Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and most recently, at the critically acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Robert has been an award-winning voice artist and narrator of audio books for the past 21 years and is a long-time member of the Recorded Books Repertory Company in New York City. Robert received his M.F.A. in Acting from the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware.
