Youth Auditions Announced

Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre announces youth auditions for our 2017 summer season, including roles in The Music Man and the opportunity to appear in Love’s Labour’s Lost as part of The Groundlings Company. Any interested young actors between the ages 8 to 18 are encouraged to audition.

AST youth auditions will be held on Friday, January 6, from 4-8 pm in the Bridges Larson Theatre in the Snow Fine Arts building on the campus of UCA. No preparation is necessary, but participants will be asked to sing and move, as well as be given a scene to read.

To secure a space, e-mail casting@arkshakes.com with the names and ages of those wanting to audition, and a photo and resume or list of past theatrical credits if available. We will respond with your assigned audition time and more information.

The AST summer season consists of the musical Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost and Julius Caesar and a special adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew specifically for families.

AST's unique summer educational program The Groundlings Company combines learning with practice as students participate in acting classes while also rehearsing and performing alongside AST's professional acting company in Love’s Labour’s Lost. There is a fee of $300 to participate in this program.

Rehearsals for all productions will begin May 16. Rehearsals for both The Music Man and Love’s Labour’s Lost will be primarily in the evenings, with some daytime technical rehearsals prior to opening. Love’s Labour’s opens June 9th on the UCA campus and runs through the end of the festival on July 9th. The Music Man opens June 16, with additional performances throughout the duration of the festival.
