The Groundlings Company

The Groundlings Company is AST's training program for actors 18 and under.  Through TGC, actors have participated in workshops with AST's professional company of artists, been ensemble members in our MainStage productions, and even put on their own shows.

This year as part of our "Revisiting Shakespeare" project, we're offering at-home activities for the Groundlings!

AST Artistic Collective member Dan Matisa tells you all about it.

Week Two Challenge

And here's the text for the week 2 challenge:

“Now o'er the one half-world

Nature seems dead, and wicked dreams abuse

The curtained sleep. Witchcraft celebrates

Pale Hecate's offerings, and withered murder,

Alarumed by his sentinel, the wolf,

Whose howl's his watch, towards his design

Moves like a ghost. Thou sure and firm-set earth,

Hear not my steps, which way they walk, for fear

Thy very stones prate of my whereabout,

And take the present horror from the time,

Which now suits with it.”

Macbeth, Act II, Scene 1

Week One Challenge

Here's the text for the week one challenge:

"My gentle Puck, come hither. Thou remember'st since once I sat upon a promontory, and heard a mermaid, on a dolphin's back, uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath, that the rude sea grew civil at her song; and certain stars shot madly from their spheres, to hear the sea-maid's music?"
A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act II Scene 1
